November 2015 Construction Update
The Gardens is pleased to announce that the exterior of the Holy Resurrection Chapel is nearing completion. Masons are working on the exterior walls, adding natural stone. Doors and windows are arriving and being installed.
- The chapel’s dome has been hoisted up
- The pergola which will eventually be adorned with vines has been finished
- The grounds surrounding the chapel have been sodded
As we move toward completion of the chapel’s exterior, The Gardens will be kicking off the capital campaign’s 2nd phase. This phase will raise funds for the chapel’s interior which includes the Iconostasis.
There are many opportunities for major gift donors to be recognized for their support of this eternal memorial. For a tour and presentation, please call us at (617) 325-0186. Or visit The Gardens at 670 Baker Street in West Roxbury located just off the VFW Parkway on the Newton line.
The Gardens, along with the advice of local clergy, has completed the wall and frame construction of the Byzantine style Holy Resurrection Chapel, has installed double vaults and landscaped over a half of an acre to create the Orthodox Garden.
You may help create an Eternal Orthodox Legacy by praying for us and spreading the word about this worthy project. Choosing your family’s resting place in advance will allow you to select preferred lots close to the Chapel and have peace of mind that you will be among other Orthodox Christians who share the same beliefs, customs and traditions.
The Holy Resurrection Chapel will have a full Iconostas where candles may be lit, memorial services may be held and prayers offered to love ones resting at The Gardens.
Placing eternal lights and planting flowers are encouraged at the Orthodox Garden. These traditions practiced for thousands of years are often forbidden at most local cemeteries. The ability to select multiple adjacent lots is also becoming extremely difficult within the Greater Boston area.
There are memorial features within the Orthodox Garden that will enable you to honor family members and their commitment to the Orthodox faith and traditions. A contribution to the Orthodox Garden is tax deductible and will assist us in completing this project.
For a personal tour of the Orthodox Garden and Holy Resurrection Chapel please visit the cemetery at 670 Baker Street in West Roxbury or call me on my cell phone: (617) 592-1004.

The Gardens is establishing an Orthodox Garden & Chapel where the Orthodox community can observe and practice the customs and traditions of their faith and pass them on to the next generation.
The project is a national model and the only Orthodox Cemetery Chapel of its kind in New England. This endeavor can become a reality only with the support of a united orthodox community.
